The cloud-based instant messaging service Telegram that has been busy warding off governments' attempts to collect users' data, is welcoming 2018 with a handful of features.

Starting on its app on iOS, the version 4.7 allows users to change how Telegram looks. With the Appearance settings, users can choose between four different themes: including a minimalistic one (“Day”) and two dark themes (“Night” and “Night Blue”).

The “Day” theme also allows different accent color for the entire app, like pink or purple.

What this update does, is finally allowing users to go dark or change their appearance.

Telegram is one of the not so many messenger apps that are getting major new features on a regular basis.

Themes however, is not the only important thing that is rolling out.

For Telegram Android app that already supported multiple themes, Telegram goes beyond that with version 4.7 by introducing multiple accounts. This way, users can add up to three different accounts with different phone numbers to their Telegram app.

Switching from one account to another can be done from the side menu.

Notifications will keep coming from all accounts regardless of which one account is active, unless users change this in the Notification settings.

For both iOS and Android, Telegram also introduces quick replies feature.

With the feature, users can swipe left on a friend's text bubble to write a reply specifically for that part of the conversation. This way, users can type multiple responses without confusing themselves or their friend.

On previous version, Telegram 4.6 which was released earlier in December 2017, introduced a granular setting for auto-downloading media, better link previews, albums in Secret Chats, improved security, as well as embeds for messages from public groups and channels.
