Getting well into the hot summer moving season, June is the time when leases are ending and people are beginning the search for new apartments. Renting with pets can add to the stress, so to make apartment-hunting in New York City a little easier, we have created a map to show which Manhattan neighborhoods had the most and least pet-friendly Listings. Overall, more than a third of Manhattan listings (36%) were either dog or cat-friendly.
Tiny Roosevelt Island was the most pet-friendly area with over 80% of active listings last month being accommodating to pets. On the main island of Manhattan, Central Park, unsurprisingly, had the most amount of pet-friendly listings at 69%. With easy access to open park space, it makes sense for pet owners to look into this neighborhood.
NoHo (68%), Battery Park City (58%), and Chelsea (54%) were the next best neighborhoods to rent for pet owners with more than half of total listings accepting of a tenant’s furry friend.
Meanwhile, at less than 20% of total listings being pet-friendly, Chinatown, SoHo, and Nolita were the worst neighborhoods for pet owners to search for apartments.
