This colonial styled Mansion was the DeFeo family’s dream home when they lived here in the 1970’s. However, in 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr., the 24-year old son, was charged for shooting and killing his parents and his four siblings inside the house. The family that moved in after, the Lutz family, claimed that they heard voices, saw slime oozing from the walls, and felt a demonic force in the home. Nowadays, the mansion has been renovated and sold to new owners.

Today, the LaLaurie mansion is considered to be the most haunted location in the French Quarter. Although the mansion is now privately owned and not open for public viewing, you can still view the exterior and learn about its history on a few haunted tours.
