Time to Dust Off Your Shovel

Now that fall is gone, make sure that nobody falls on your Property. Yup, it's that time of year, when winter's grip tightens on Minnesota. And while the winter months might bring a new type of beauty to the landscape, there is one element that remains a chore for most of us: removing Snow from driveways and sidewalks.

Shoveling is a Taxing Activity. From 1990 to 2006, nearly 200,000 people were treated in the ER for snow shoveling-related injuries. Here are some tips to make sure that you don't join that group.

Warm up. Show shoveling is a physically taxing activity and should be approached like any exercise. Make sure you're stretched out before and hydrated before grabbing the shovel.

Start soon. The longer you wait to shovel, the more likely your driveway and walks could develop deep drifts or freeze over. And if you have a lot of foot traffic near your property, you'll want to remove the snow before pedestrians pound it into an icy blanket.

Skip the salt. Instead, use Calcium Chloride to melt ice. Calcium chloride works better at lower temperatures than salt, and it won't cause as much damage to your property, either. And here's another tip: use a spreader to apply your de-icing product in order to achieve even distribution.

Call the pros. Of course, if you are managing multiple properties, you'll need a hand with your snow-clearing efforts. Our snow and ice removal services are unparalleled in Minnesota, and we can dispatch a crew of plow trucks at a moment's notice to ensure that all of your properties are safe and snow-free.
