Finding a place to work can be hard, particular in London where rent prices are sky rocking. We were still out there and here are our top 5 free workplaces to work in London.

1. Google Campus

The café at the Google campus is open from 9am – 5pm during the week and is open to everyone free to use. You can simply show up and register when you visit for the first time. They will give you a free member card. We recommend showing up early, because the seats are quickly taken. You will find fast and free Internet, a quite working environment, a good café and a nice crowd of startups, freelancers and artists.

1. British Library

The British library is open to the public for free from 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and is a good place to work, not only because you have access to an abandon of books and literature, but because it is also a quite and nice workplace. With all free workplaces we recommend to show up early, since the library is usually very busy during lunch. You will find in the library many students if it is exam period, otherwise people from all walks of life.

1. City Business library

The City Business library in London is open to everyone, not only business owners, from 9.30am to 5pm. The City Business library is not as busy as the other two places, as it is less well known. But you can use free Internet and you have in the library access to some very exclusive databanks. They can help you with finding journalists, industry representatives, or company owners. Additionally, they have many business and industry reports available.

Mozilla has a number of office space around the world and one is in London. It is open to member in the Mozilla community. You will mostly find designers, freelancers, hackers or programmers in the space. It is a true startup culture, with many events taking place. It is also possible to book meeting rooms and to have events.

The British Museum gives free access to an impressive reading room, as you can see from the pictures below. The museum is open from 10am to 5pm. The reading room is targeted to researcher and people who are using the material in the museum.

In general, working in the city is hard and it can be very hard to find a permanent place. In addition to the limited workspace, you should always follow the terms and use of the provider, which often contains a fair usage policy.
