Detroit, MI – Multi-Vehicle Wreck w/Injuries on I-75 at 11 Mile Rd

Detroit, MI (October 16, 2023) – On Monday afternoon, October 16, at least two vehicles were involved in a multi-car wreck on northbound Interstate 75 through the Detroit area.

Authorities say that two sedans collided on the northbound side of the interstate around 3:00 p.m. on Monday and that it appeared that one of the drivers rear-ended the other after merging into traffic near the exit to 11 Mile Road.

Troopers with the Michigan State Police assessed the scene, along with officers from the Detroit Police Department. Paramedics also evaluated at least one person for injuries, but the total number of persons involved still remains unknown.

Officers are continuing to investigate at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones in the meantime.

Vehicle Wreck Injuries in Detroit

Michigan has more than 300,000 car accidents every year, resulting in about 73,500 injuries. For a state with three million cars, that’s a shocking number of fatalities and injuries. Whether you were involved in a minor fender bender or a major head-on collision while driving in the Detroit area, you need to consult a highly experienced vehicle accident lawyer to discover your options.

After a car collision involving another driver, you should take the following steps (in no particular order):

  • Get the other driver’s insurance details, contact info, and license plate numbers if possible. You’ll need to supply this information to your insurance carrier or the other driver’s insurance provider when filing a claim for compensation after an auto accident.
  • Make sure a police report is filed once you report the incident, which should be done as quickly as possible. Call 911 and report the crash as soon as possible.
  • If you can, take pictures or video of the accident site to document the injuries and property damage. If you ever find yourself in a situation where legal action is necessary, you will have these images and recordings as essential proof.
  • Inquire about witness information and try to get statements from them. It’s a decent thing to do, so most people will likely oblige your request.
  • Contact your insurance company and file a claim for no-fault coverage. Michigan is one of 12 no-fault states in the United States, meaning that an insurance company will pay for any losses, whether financial or otherwise, regardless of who was at fault.
  • Consult a personal injury attorney after your accident. A lawyer will know how to handle the steps above and walk you through your legal options.
