Detroit, MI – Victim Rescue, Injuries in T-Bone Collision at 9 Mile & Schroeder

Detroit, MI (October 6, 2023) – On Friday afternoon, October 6, in the Detroit area, two drivers allegedly collided in a vehicle wreck that resulted in at least one injury and a victim rescue.

Dispatchers received calls around 2:50 p.m., prompting them to send officers to the corner of 9 Mile Road and Schroeder in Eastpointe. Detroit authorities shut down the intersection, radioed for medical help, and alerted the Michigan State Police to help with the investigation. Early reports indicate a red Ford Escape t-boned a white sedan at the intersection, and the occupants of the white sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Despite the assistance of first responders, it is not yet known how many persons were injured in the crash. The DPD has requested that any possible witnesses get in touch and aid the ongoing investigation.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families at this time.

Traffic Accidents in Detroit

Any type of car crash can change your life in a second, even if an accident appears to only cause minor injuries or damages at first blush. Sadly, perfectly healthy people could find themselves suddenly unable to provide for themselves or their loved ones as a result of the careless actions of other drivers on our roads.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a vehicle accident takes place somewhere in the United States about every 10 seconds. Unsurprisingly, auto accidents are the leading cause of personal injury claims filed in American courts today as a result. Fortunately, state law may entitle you to monetary compensation, sometimes known as First-Party Benefits, or non-monetary compensation, such as pain-and-suffering damages.

What’s more, an already difficult road to recovery is exacerbated by an insurance company that fights you at every turn for what is rightfully yours. However, as Michigan is a “no-fault” state, your insurance company will cover you regardless of who was at fault for the accident (within certain limits). Financial compensation, also known as First-Party Benefits, and non-monetary compensation, such as pain-and-suffering damages, may be available to you under the law. This means that after an accident, you can first turn to your own no-fault insurance for financial compensation for aspects like medical bills, lost wages, assistance with daily activities, and so on.

Though you can’t sue the individual who caused your car crash for personal injuries unless you’ve suffered a serious impairment of physical function, victims with a “serious impairment of body function” (meaning that an injured person can no longer perform an essential bodily function, making it difficult for them to live a regular life) often have further legal recourse.

Retaining a qualified attorney in Detroit can help you understand more about your rights following a crash. For example, whatever sum you can recover in a claim will be reduced by your potential fault.
