Detroit, MI – Teen on Bike Hurt in Hit-and-Run at Jefferson & 21 Mile Rd

Detroit, MI (October 4, 2023) – A hit-and-run Accident was reported on Jefferson Road, right by 21 Mile Road, on Wednesday morning, October 4.

Officers with the Detroit Police Department say that a silver SUV, possibly with right-side damage, allegedly collided with a young teen on a dirt bike. The teenage boy was rushed to the hospital, though his current condition is unclear.

No information about the victim’s age was provided, and it’s unclear whether officers had any details about the suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Detroit Police Department. An investigation remains ongoing in the meantime, and no additional details were released.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victim and his family.

Vehicle Accident Injuries in Michigan

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that there is an automobile accident in the United States every ten to fifteen seconds. Automobile accidents account for the majority of personal injury lawsuits filed in modern courts, which is not surprising considering the appalling national and Michigan-specific crash statistics.

Because “no-fault” insurance does not assign blame, insurance firms in Michigan often do not identify the cause of an accident. In a lawsuit against the responsible party, one may collect non-monetary losses (such as pain and suffering) as well as first-party benefits (monetary damages).

If you’ve been in a vehicle accident, you should still visit a lawyer even if you think your injuries are modest and the case is simple. Although it is common sense that victims might worry about the cost of legal advice, research has shown that plaintiffs who have strong defense attorneys actually get higher settlements. Contingency fee agreements are used by the majority of personal injury lawyers; this means that they don’t get paid unless their client does.

It would be advantageous to have legal counsel in many cases. In any correspondence with insurers and other parties, your attorney will serve as your representative. In order to establish who is at fault in an accident and why you should get compensation, your attorney will look into all of your possibilities. There are two parts to this process: gathering pertinent information and interviewing possible witnesses.
