Grand Rapids, MI – Fatal Semi Crash on M-32 Under Inquiry

Grand Rapids, MI (September 28, 2023) – A woman from the Grand Rapids area was killed in a two-car collision on Wednesday, September 27, according to local authorities.

The Michigan State Patrol reports that a 61-year-old woman was killed after the SUV she was driving westbound on 330th Avenue collided with a 2009 Volvo Semi traveling northbound on Michigan Highway 32. It was reported just before 2:00 p.m. that the semi’s driver was unharmed in the collision, but that one death took place.

The deceased’s identity has not been released at this time, and an investigation remains active.

We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the deceased woman’s family.

Deadly Vehicle Wrecks in Michigan

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that there is an automobile accident in the United States every ten to fifteen seconds. Automobile accidents account for most personal injury lawsuits filed in modern courts, which is unsurprising considering the appalling national and Michigan-specific crash statistics.

Due to “no-fault” insurance, insurance companies in Michigan often do not identify the cause of an accident. A lawsuit against the responsible party may yield both non-monetary losses (such as pain and suffering) and first-party benefits (monetary damages).

If you’ve been in a vehicle accident, you should still visit a lawyer even if you think your injuries are modest and the case is simple. Although it is common sense that victims might worry about the cost of legal advice, research has shown that plaintiffs with strong defense attorneys actually get higher settlements. The majority of personal injury lawyers use contingency fee agreements; this means that they don’t get paid unless their client does.

It would be advantageous to have legal counsel in many cases. In any correspondence with insurers and other parties, your attorney will serve as your representative. In an accident, your lawyer will look into all of your alternatives to find out who is at fault and why you should be paid. There are two parts to this process: gathering pertinent information and interviewing possible witnesses.
