Battle Creek, MI – One Injured in Chain-Reaction Crash on I-94 at M-66

Battle Creek, MI (September 15, 2023) – MDOT reports that an accident on Thursday morning caused the closure of eastbound I-94 south of Battle Creek at roughly 10:00 a.m.

Michigan State Police said a driver weaving for unexplained reasons sideswiped a big truck that was coming onto westbound I-94 at Michigan Highway 66, causing an accident that set off a chain reaction that resulted in more collisions, including a rear-end crash between a semi-truck and another vehicle.

The driver of one of the vehicles, who had to be extricated, is in stable condition. According to the state police, there were no additional serious injuries, though EMTs evaluated multiple victims at the scene.

The accident forced the closure of the roadway for several hours. An investigation is still ongoing in the meantime.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones.

Auto Accidents in Michigan

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that a vehicle collision happens every 10 seconds in the USA. According to the awful statistics we have seen, both nationally and in Michigan, the vast majority of personal injury claims reviewed by our courts now involve automobile accidents.

In Michigan, “no-fault” insurance policies are the norm, meaning that insurers will not determine who is to blame in an accident. You may sue the negligent person for both first-party benefits (monetary damages) and third-party losses (such as pain and suffering).

Even if you think your injuries aren’t serious and the accident itself wasn’t difficult, you should still see a lawyer after being in a vehicle accident. Studies have shown that plaintiffs who attorneys represent get better judgments than those who do not have representation. However, victims may be apprehensive that employing an attorney may drain their financial resources.

Thankfully, the majority of attorneys who focus on representing clients in personal injury cases do so on a contingency fee basis. Having legal counsel on your side might be advantageous in many different scenarios. Your attorney could represent you in interactions with insurers or other third parties if you give them permission to do so. Your attorney will look into all of the possible legal avenues available to you in order to identify who was at fault in the accident and why you should be compensated for your injuries. Conducting interviews with possible witnesses and gathering information that is pertinent are two processes included in this strategy.

Our firm is able to better understand and sympathize with the effects of our clients’ injuries because we take the time to get to know them on a personal level.
