Detroit, MI – Semi-Truck Wreck Causes Injuries on I-696 at Dequindre

Detroit, MI (August 30, 2023) – A semi-truck allegedly side-swiped a passenger sedan on a local highway on Wednesday afternoon, August 30, according to reports from Macomb County authorities.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers with the Detroit Police Department were sent to Interstate 696 at Dequindre Road and also dispatched local EMTs to assess victims for injuries. Traffic was blocked across all lanes, and local news footage showed an 18-wheeler had smashed into a sedan in the left lanes of traffic.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash shortly thereafter, though it is unclear how many people were hurt. The DPD is seeking witnesses to aid their investigation, which remains ongoing in the interim.

At this time, our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones.

Major Truck Accidents in Michigan

In Michigan, hundreds of people use our busy, multi-lane roads to go to work each day, particularly in major metros like Detroit or Lansing. Thus, unsurprisingly, Interstate 75 between Interstate 96 and the interchange with Interstate 94, Interstate 94 between Vining Road and Telegraph Road, and Interstate 7 Mile Road are some of the most packed and dangerous areas we see across the Great Lakes State.

Although Michigan permits speeds up to 75 mph, the majority of its posted speed limits are 55 or 65 mph. What’s more, anybody involved in a car accident is far more likely to suffer major injuries or possibly pass away when wrecks occur at these higher speed limits.

Of course, significant injuries from vehicle accidents often occur in the Detroit area. Regardless of their frequency, vehicle accident victims find themselves in a challenging position after the fact for a variety of reasons, such as exorbitant medical expenses, being unable to work owing to injuries, and financial strain.

Even when negligent drivers are responsible for a crash, they often still try to place the blame for an accident on victims in order to escape legal liability. The insurance provider for the motorist who caused the collision can also make an effort to downplay your injuries or try to offer a lowball settlement.

You should get fair and equitable compensation if you were injured on an American road as a result of someone else’s negligence. If you retain a Detroit personal injury lawyer for your case, they will handle the following steps on your behalf:

  • Organizing and conducting an analysis of the information and facts regarding the crash.
  • Obtaining video evidence to support your narrative from surveillance cameras or traffic signals.
  • Collecting and comparing witness evidence from interviews.
  • Communicating with insurance providers.
  • Estimating the amount of compensation you are due for damages.
  • Reviewing every settlement proposal from insurance companies and providing feedback.
