Beaver Island, MI (June 24, 2023) – On Friday, June 23, a single-engine plane crash in Beaver Island left one person dead and another injured. 

The small plane crashed into the north of Lake Michigan, and a 70-year-old Lowell man was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard and transported to Petoskey Hospital for treatment. Another passenger of the craft, a 68-year-old Lowell woman, was found dead at the scene. 

It is believed that the man was the pilot of the craft at the time of the crash. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
