2013 Hyundai Santa Fe goes sport

It's not just a city anymore.

Too big to be a true crossover, too small and inexpensive to be considered a mid-sized SUV. The 2013 version of the Santa Fe has not only been redesigned, but it also has a more powerful base engine in one trim, the Santa Fe Sport, and a larger wheelbase that takes on three-row competitors in another, the Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe Sport, a five-seater, gives you a choice of going with either the 190-hp 2.4L four-cylinder or the 264-hp 2.0L turbo, which is incidentally found in the Hyundai Sonata. With a new chrome grill, the two Santa Fe models look very similar to each other, and with a weight loss of at least 350 lbs, it gives the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport some of the best power-to-weight ratios in the segment.

Beating out other compact entries, the Santa Fe Sport gets 71.5 cu ft of cargo room and gets a fuel economy rating of 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, which is based on the front-wheel-drive form. The interior also feels richer with components having a 'soft to the touch' feeling.

With a sticker price of $25,275, the Santa Fe Sport is thousands less than some of its mid-size competition, making it a great option for those wanting a vehicle with style, comfort, cargo room and performance.

It's not just a crossover anymore.
