April Holidays and Newsletter Ideas — 2022

I have to admit that April holds a special place in my heart.

Despite the fact that the first day of spring falls in March, where I grew up, it wasn’t spring until April  —  when the crocus and daffodils started to bloom.

With the first bright colors poking through late snows and sounds of birds returning, for me, April has always been filled with promise and new beginnings.

And, despite it being April Fool’s Day, one of the best decisions I ever made happened on April 1st  —  it was the day I joined Constant Contact. Which by the way, happens to be International Fun at Work Day as well. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

But enough about me. Let’s talk about some April holidays and Newsletter Ideas to add some joy to your email marketing this month.

April holidays — 2022

While April Fool’s Day might not be the best day to celebrate with your customers, here are some April holidays that should definitely be considered.

  • April 1st – Walk to Work Day. Encourage your employees and your readers to reduce carbon emissions and breath some fresh air.
  • April 5th – First Contact Day. Come on Trekkies, let’s party!
  • April 9th – National Unicorn Day. Nothing is quite so elusive  —  except maybe a sale on the one item that never goes on sale.
  • April 11th – National Pet Day. Share the love.
  • April 14th – National Gardening Day and National Garden Month.
  • April 17th – Easter. Got eggs?
  • April 19th – Wear Pajamas to Work Day. Pro or con? That depends on your brand.
  • April 21st – National High Five Day. Check the link. Watch the video. Do good things in your community.
  • April 22nd – Earth Day.
  • April 27th – Administrative Professionals Day. Hug them. Thank them. Give them a spa day.
  • April 29th – National Arbor Day. Get your employees and customers together and plant some trees in your community.
  • April 30th – National Rebuilding Day is the culmination of National Rebuilding Month.

April newsletter ideas

April is designated as National Month of Hope. And with hope comes promise.

Whether we’re hoping for a brighter tomorrow, or the promise of a good meal, April is full of reasons to smile.

April newsletter ideas for a brighter tomorrow

When things are at their darkest, hope is our best defense and strongest ally.

World Autism Awareness Day (Apr. 2nd)

Everyone who’s had the privilege to know someone with autism knows what strength, courage, and joy these individuals possess and this is a great time to share it with others.

  • Share a story that’s touched your heart. Whether it’s your own story or not, let your readers know how it touched your heart and include a link to the full story so they can read it for themselves.
  • Find an autism charity worthy of your donations and collaborate with your neighboring businesses to create a fundraiser, sharing the details in your email newsletter and on social media.
  • Share autism resources like AutismSpeaks.org or AutismSociety.org.

Keep America Beautiful Month

Take a cue from KeepAmericaBeautiful.org and #DoBeautifulThings.

  • Talk to your employees and ask what beautiful thing they’d like to do as a team, then share your plan in your newsletter and post updates on your progress on your preferred social media channel.
  • Share tips on cleaning green.
  • Sponsor a green space in your neighborhood and invite your readers to help make it happen. Tie it in with National Garden Month and make that green space a community garden!

National Find a Rainbow Day (April. 3rd)

Can you ‘find a rainbow’ if you created the right atmosphere for it?

  • Challenge your readers to create their own rainbows and share images of them on Instagram or Pinterest.
  • Share some fun facts or trivia about rainbows.
  • Create a rainbow coloring page that your readers can print out and share the link to it in your newsletter.

April newsletter ideas for promising meals

Did you know that April has no less than 48 food & beverage holidays?

With holidays such as National Deep Dish Pizza Day (Apr. 5th), National Peach Cobbler Day (Apr. 13th), and National Bubble Tea Day (Apr. 30th) this is a great month to show off your inner “foodie”  —  food-related business not required.

  • Partner with a local charity that helps feed your community and collaborate to build awareness or sponsor a food drive or fundraiser.
  • Share an article that’s chock-full of great cooking tips, or share some of your own.
  • If it falls in line with your business, highlight a cooking or food-related product.
  • Pick your favorite food holiday  —  like National Oatmeal Cookie Day (Apr. 30th) and share a recipe with your readers. Then take it to the next level by having a recipe swap on your preferred social media channel. Encourage your followers to post recipes they’ve created or to share links to recipes they’ve found online and really loved.

TIP: Whatever holiday you highlight in your newsletter this month, whether you issue a challenge, offer advice, or ask your readers to share, include a branded hashtag and a custom hashtag — along with a corresponding post on social media — so you can easily find and like what they post!
