Free Knitting and Crochet Pattern – Stormy Sky Shawl

Surely it will be warm weather soon, and thoughts will turn to lighter weight Yarn for knitting and crochet projects.  I found this pretty Shawl on Ravelry, knit by Lynn Fukutani, using Mariquita Yarn, a Fingering weight yarn, which is a luxurious blend of 50% Baby Alpaca and 50% Tencel.

Mariquita yarn has a subtle shine and a beautiful drape, and is the perfect choice for this lightweight, asymmetrical shawl.

The color chosen for this shawl is called Serengeti.  There are many other colors available too!

The Free knitting pattern designed by Ksenia Naidyon, is called Stormy Sky Shawl, and published on Life is Cozy.  Knitted from the corner in the shape of a skewed triangle, it is a pattern that is easy to memorize, yet it includes alternating patterned sections keeping it interesting and adding nice texture.  A crochet version of this shawl is also available here.

Tassels can be added to make corners look more polished.

Save yarn in advance if you’d like to make tassels.  You will need approximately 26′ (8m) to make two tassels.  Here is the Tassel Tutorial.

Need help knowing how to wear your shawl?  Be sure to see Knitted Shawls and How to Wear Them on the Interweave website.
