Agile Project Management

What is Agile Project Management?

Agile Project Management applies an iterative approach for effective planning and completion of projects. Teams are able to complete deliverables incrementally throughout a project’s life cycle and coordinate daily. Agile project management at its core is about focusing on smaller sections known as ‘sprints’ to complete project tasks. This provides room for continuous improvement and the flexibility to manage and resolve issues as they arise.

The primary values that drive the success of an agile project are trust and flexibility. Teams are empowered to collaborate together to improve the success of a project at each stage without hindering the overarching goals.

Continuous improvement throughout project lifecycle.

Agile project management is about structuring projects into small sections that are completed in sprints from the initial concept phase to scoping, design, quality assurance (QA), and finally development. Sprints are defined by a select group of tasks that are subject to a short period of time, and effectively deploy solutions. The progress of a project is marked by each sprint and allows for teams to communicate resource alignment, next steps, and future planning.

The primary benefit of Agile Project Management is response time. By resolving issues at the right time, teams can save resources and deliver a project on time within a set budget.

Teams as a result are enabled to complete tasks with measured success and greater knowledge to drive a project through to the finish line. Each sprint gives the team the opportunity to demonstrate successful completion of planned tasks, while at the same time adapting to changing needs.
