What Did We Learn About Video Over the Last 10 Years?

One of the leading video marketing services (Wyzowl) has tracked 10 years of trends on the video industry. Each year they poll about 1,000 marketers throughout the United States on video usage, including many marketers in the Southeast who reveal how video is used, who makes video and why.

Over the past 10 years the results of these annual surveys show unmistakable trends in the industry. Primeau Productions would like to share these 8 of these important trends with you in today’s posting.

  1. In 2015, about 61% of all businesses made use of video. In 2024, 91% of businesses will use video. Obviously, “a business” can be anything from a sole proprietor physical therapist to a car dealership with several locations and hundreds of employees.
  2. In 2015, about 78% of all business said that video would be an important part of their marketing strategy. In 2024, the percentage will rise to about 88% (possibly higher). “Video” could mean all sorts of activities, from embedded video on a website to social media to advertising.
  3. In terms of ROI (return on investment) in 2015, 76% of all businesses said the ROI was good. In 2024, the positive attitude toward ROI is projected to be over 90%
  4. Of those companies who used video to explain what they did, in 2015 the videos proved to be about 80% effective and in 2024 it is projected to be nearly 90% Customers “get” video, and value video to teach and explain what you do.
  5. Want to increase web traffic? Use video. In 2015, about 55% of those who saw a company video were inclined to visit the website. In 2024 it is projected that 86% will most probably visit your website if they saw your video.
  6. Want to increase your sales? In 2015, about 64% of marketers said the use of video helped to increase their sales. In 2024, industry projections show the percentage will rise to at least 87%
  7. In terms of customer service and the expenses associated with answering the same questions over and over, in 2015 about 30% of businesses said that video helped to reduce the demands on customer service. By 2024, the percentage is expected to rise to 66% It is more than just time, but saving money.
  8. The most important statistic of all! In 2015, 73% of customers who viewed a video were convinced to buy the product or service. In 2024, at least 82% of customers who view a video will be convinced to buy the product or service. Customers, clients and even patients want to see and hear what you have to say.
