Risks, Issues, Actions and Dependencies

I am currently sat on a conference call and a discussion arose around some challenges that are being faced with the project and some key barriers causing complications now.

One person suggested that we raise a risk.  The PM commented that it’s an issue.  What’s the distinction?  Simply put, an issue is in the here and now a risk is something that might happen.  There can be more to it than that, but that’s the essence.

RAID stands for Risks, Issues, Actions and Dependencies.  Are you clear what the differences are?  Did you ever come across a positive risk?  Can you give us an example?  Answers on a post-card (or Social Media)
