New Delhi: Deepavali or Diwali is one of the biggest festivals in India. It is celebrated with full enthusiasm as it symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.  On the auspicious day of Diwali people decorate their houses with diyas, lights, wear new clothes and distribute sweets.

Deepavali or Diwali refers to the Sanskrit word “Dipa” which means diyas, lantern, lamp, or just simply light. Diwali begins 20 days after Vijayadashami or Dussehra and continues for five days.
