Delhi to set up its own Board of School Education

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Delhi Government announced that they will be setting up the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).
Delhi’s Directorate of Education has announced on Twitter, “Now Delhi has its own education board. Delhi Education Board got registered today.”
The Directorate of Education has congratulated principals, teachers, students and other stakeholders, stating that the most awaited reform will be brought in their assessment system.

20 to 25 schools will be affiliated under the new board in the coming 2021-22 academic session, CM Arvind Kejriwal stated earlier.
On March 6, the CM has informed that Delhi Cabinet has given approval for the constitution of Delhi’s own board of school education, i.e. Delhi Board of School Education.

The Board of school education will be having a Governing Body, which will be chaired by Education Minister. For day-to-day function the Board will also have an Executive Body and will be headed by a CEO. Both the bodies will include experts- from professional industries, principals of government and private schools, bureaucrats and the education sector.

Till now, there are about 1,700 private schools and 1,000 government schools in Delhi, almost all the schools in Delhi are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

In July 2020, Delhi Government constituted two committees to develop the framework and scheme for the formation of curriculum reforms and the state education board.
