New Delhi: Even as the Interim Budget is being hailed by economists and analysts for its universal appeal and outreach to all sections, the Opposition doesn’t see any merit in it.
Addressing a press conference, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said, “It is a not a vote on account but an account on votes.”
Rahul Gandhi too hit out at the government, calling it an affront to farmers.
“Five years of your incompetence and arrogance has destroyed the lives of our farmers. Giving them Rs 17 a day is an insult to everything they stand and work for,” Rahul Gandhi said.

AakhriJumlaBudget— Jyotiraditya Scindia (@JM_Scindia) February 1, 2019
Dear NoMo,
5 years of your incompetence and arrogance has destroyed the lives of our farmers.

.@PiyushGoyal blatantly lied in parliament about the achievements of PMMAY. The fact is the Modi govt. missed their targets and is now significantly inflating the numbers in order to save themselves the embarrassment of another failure. #Budget2019 #AakhriJumlaBudget pic.twitter.com/mWjGZKyys5

Dear @PiyushGoyal, you should check with your colleague @nsitharaman, Defence Budget is measured as a percentage of GDP. And under the Modi Govt, it has been the lowest in over 50 years. #Budget2019 #AakhriJumlaBudget
