Premium Comfort & Luxury with an economy pricetag. The only Peugeot 5008 Review you need.

With their ever increasing popularity, there are plenty of desirable SUVs to choose from, but this Peugeot 5008 review will reveal that you don’t necessarily need a big budget to get yourself behind the wheel of a good one.

What started off as a very conventional seven-seat MPV, the Peugeot 5008 has evolved into a higher-riding, more rugged-looking three-row crossover SUV. It’s essentially a roomier version of its stablemate the Peugeot 3008, with a more spacious tail designed not only to accommodate more luggage, but also two third row seats that spring up from the boot floor.

The 5008 is positioned to compete with the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail, as well as the much more expensive Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. It boasts many of their same qualities, but without the hefty price tag.

Power options for the 5008 come in the form of both petrol and diesel engines, all turbocharged, with the most powerful engines only available with automatic gearboxes. The manual transmission option (where available) is a six-speed, and the automatic is six- or eight-speed depending on the Engine you go for.

While you may not experience any great driving thrill behind the wheel of the Peugeot 5008, it’s a comfortable car first and foremost, which is exactly what it was designed for. And while from the outside it may not seem to be as large as some other luxury SUVs, the 5008 will still happily carry around seven people while being relatively cheap to run in the process.

The 5008 range is split into four trims. Active marks the entry point and is followed by Allure, GT Line, and the top-specified GT.

Driving

Peugeot 5008’s quiet, refined turbo petrol and diesel engines perform perfectly adequately, packing enough punch for most people’s performance needs.

The 121kW turbo petrol engine is available in the Peugeot 5008 with the Allure and GT Line. This power, combined with a maximum torque of 240 Nm, offers impressive acceleration as well as lowering fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The advanced 133kW Blue HDi Stop & Start (S&S) diesel engine is available exclusively with the top-level GT trim. It’s outstandingly efficient, offering you a much more powerful driving experience thanks to an impressive 400Nm of torque. Stop & Start technology is also included for increased fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions.

The Peugeot 5008 is a car that’s been set up to deliver comfort above all else. At highway speeds, the 5008 is enjoyably quiet and settled, producing minimal wind noise. The relatively softly sprung suspension insulates you from all but the roughest road surfaces and potholes. If you’re after relaxing journeys, the Peugeot 5008 is a good car to drive.

On the Inside

An eclectic mix of contemporary soft-touch materials, chrome highlights, and leather (Optional or standard dependent on the trim), combine well together to enhance the ambience of the interior. The 5008 cabin’s sophisticated, upmarket look and feel means you always travel in luxury and style.

The i-Cockpit design philosophy applied to the dashboard design houses two configurable screens, one for the driver’s instrument panel and the other a colour touchscreen on the centre console for navigation and entertainment. The quality used in both materials and build is evident, with a modern and very cool design.

Smartphone connectivity is a key feature, as well and satellite navigation. Some other noteworthy features include convenient wireless phone charging, and if you enjoy your music, it’s worth considering an upgrade to the Focal premium sound system.

One of the i-Cockpit’s most distinctive features is that the instrument panel is designed to be easily viewed over the top of the (smaller than usual) steering wheel, not through it, as is the norm.

Parking is made a breeze with the front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera that comes standard. If you need more information, a 360 degree camera system is available, or even better yet, sit back and let the clever City Park system do all the hard work for you.

Passenger & Boot Space

The 5008 is comfortable and spacious, with plenty of head and leg room for both driver and passenger at the front.

Legroom for those sitting in the second row is excellent, with plenty of space for long legs to fit, even when the front seats are slid fully back. It’s also one of the best SUVs in its class for seating three adults side-by-side, and each person gets a comfortable chair that slides and reclines individually.

The third row is made up of the 5008 two seats that can be folded or even removed altogether.

The boot is large, and with the seven independently adjustable seats, including the front passenger seat can also be folded flat, there is plenty of flexibility in managing the space required for your luggage items and passengers.

Whether it is for the kids’ sports or music equipment, things for a family trip to the beach or taking your furry friend to the dog park, the Peugeot 5008 can accommodate it with ease.

And the hands-free electric tailgate is sure to come in handy when your hands are full and you need to access the boot. Opening and closing it is as simple as a quick swipe of your foot below the rear bumper.

Safety and Security

You can feel confident and safe behind the wheel of the 5008. It has been awarded a maximum five star Euro NCAP overall rating in its crash tests.

All models also come with a range of active safety systems to help prevent you from having an accident, including standard automatic emergency braking (AEB) and lane departure warning. On higher level trims you also get features such as automatic headlight high beam, blind spot warning, and a driver attention alert system to detect driver fatigue as standard.

And avoid costly annoying speeding fines with Traffic-sign Recognition keeping you informed of speed limits wherever you go.

Summary

In conclusion of this Peugeot 5008 review, we have discovered that this seven-seat SUV crossover is large, stylish and practical. The interior design is fantastic with its plush, elegant feel and lots of space. It is safe, comfortable, quiet, easy to drive, and relatively affordable to run with competitive fuel economy.
