According to a report by the Thurrott site , the Spotify music streaming service is testing a new feature that allows Artists to block, so those blocked artists do not appear in any of the curated lists offered by the service, nor in the User’s library, radios and in no other section or feature of Spotify.

In the event that the user decides to listen again to songs by the blocked artist, he must unlock it manually or remove it from the list of blocked artists.

To use this feature you must touch the menu button (…) on the artist page to block. When the menu is displayed, you must select “Do not play this artist” and that’s it, they block it.

According to Thurrott the company had considered this option in 2017, but at that time they decided not to go ahead with the plans, which now does not seem.

The test is being done with a small group of users in the iOS application and for now it is not known if they are going to implement the blocking of artists or not.
