Former CEO of Pershing LCC Jeff Horowitz joined the team of the Coinbase Exchange

The largest currency exchange and US purse Coinbase announced in the blog that former Pershing LCC executive director Jeff Horowitz will join the company as its chief compliance officer.

Horowitz previously worked as Managing Director and Global Head of Pershing LLC, BNY Mellon, as well as managing various AML programs at Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Salomon Brothers and as a banking regulator with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation FDIC).

According to COO Coinbase Asiffa Hiri, the exchange hired Horowitz to “expand the company to new markets and add new services, such as Coinbase Custody.” He also added:

“The hiring of Jeff Horowitz on our part suggests that a concerted, multifaceted effort aimed at leaders with experience that encompasses politics, financial services and corporate governance is needed to ensure global compliance.”

The blog post notes that Mike Lempres, chief legal officer of Coinbase, can now “exclusively” focus on public relations efforts.

Earlier this summer, the exchange announced the acquisition of a Keystone Capital Corp. securities dealer. in addition to Venovate Marketplace, Inc. and Digital Wealth LLC. In their desire to become a fully regulated broker-dealer at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

At the end of July, documents showed that the platform had set up its own Political Action Commission (PAC), which could potentially allow the company to send donations to positively minded politicians.
