Frequently asked questions before starting a business

Maybe it’s a topic, but creating a Business from scratch is not easy, and less with the competitiveness that there is currently as a result of the Internet and new technologies. However, this has also caused anyone to believe that thanks to the digital world, you can launch a business from nothing with just creating a WordPress and having a blog.

However, launching a business without having meditated the consequences, can lead to total failure. That is why, below we show you the most important questions you should ask yourself before starting a business.

Questions we should ask ourselves before creating a business

According to my way of being and my character, do I serve as an entrepreneur?

Unfortunately, not everyone has the skills and abilities needed to start a business.

Being organized, having clear goals and ideas, desire, determination, enthusiasm, not “bowing” to adversity, getting everything proposed without throwing in the towel, etc., are some of the skills that every entrepreneur should have.

Surely we have heard that entrepreneurship is not a path of roses, but rather of sharp stones, and that for each action that goes as expected, three go wrong. This is why it is essential not to surrender to the first problem that is presented to us , since this way, surely we will not get anywhere.

If you are a constant person, with clear ideas and strong willpower , you undoubtedly have many possibilities to become a successful entrepreneur.

Am I ready to be my own boss?

Maybe we all believe that the best thing that could happen to us is to be our own boss so that we do not have to answer to anyone, nevertheless, the people who are their own bosses will surely tell you that it is not all as beautiful as it sounds.

Being your own boss when you’re trying to start a business means navigating rough waters all alone unless we have a partner. However, as we are the founders of the company, we must always have the last word and our opinion will be the one that counts the most. Therefore, although we have support, failures and successes will always fall on top of oneself .

Are we prepared to assume 100% everything that happens within our company? Are we prepared to make decisions that may harm third parties? Do we have the necessary skills to manage and direct a team? These are some of the questions we should ask ourselves to know if we are really prepared to have our own business.

Is my entrepreneurial idea viable?

Sometimes, the difficult task is not to have a business idea , but that it is viable to be able to carry out.

It is useless to have a revolutionary idea and that we believe that it can change the world, if there are no tools or resources necessary to carry it out. It is very easy to invent thanks to our imagination and creativity, but very difficult to make it a reality.

It is time to think, what tools, techniques, technology, etc., I need to carry out my project or idea . How many people do I need, how much money should I invest, because I can sell it, who would buy it, what needs would it cover. Do I have enough experience in the sector?

It is advisable to create a business within a sector that we dominate , in this way, we will know what we can contribute as a differentiating element from the rest of the companies.

The business world is full of “sharks” and, or you know how to move around in this world, what doors to call, with whom to code and how to stand out, or surely we will die of success before reaching the first year of life of the company.

It is for this reason, that if we try to enter into a sector in which we already have experience, either because we have worked on it before or because we are interested and have previous knowledge that we have acquired on our own, it will be much easier for us to succeed.

Does the product or service that I have created cover the needs of the users or generate them?

When launching a product or service in the Market, we must be clear about the purpose for which it was created. That is to say, the product has been created with the purpose of covering specific user needs and that no other service or product generates them, or what is wanted is to awaken a need that even the users themselves did not know they had.

It is important that before launching our idea or project in the market it is clear that it is really interesting for potential clients and that therefore, they will consume it. If our product or service does not contribute anything; neither novelty, nor interest, nor originality, etc., surely it is not the ideal product to launch on the market.

Which target client do I want to contact?

This question is closely related to the previous one, since once we know what kind of needs our product or service can cover, it is time to think about what type of target will be targeted .

Knowing the age, geographic location, interests, consumption habits, among other factors, about consumers who have companies in the same sector as us, can help us build our own Buyer Persona , in order to know where to focus our strategies and Marketing campaings.

Segmentation is undoubtedly very important, since we will reach those consumers who are really interested in our products and services, and in this way, we will achieve sales.

Is it the best time to launch my idea?

In this question, both personal and economic and professional aspects come into play.

We must sit down and stop to think about how we are currently. For example, a person who is emotionally sensitive for whatever reason may not be the best time to start, since any problem that may arise can destabilize them.

Regarding the professional aspects, you should value having or not having a job. Closely linked to this point, economic aspects can enter. For us to understand, if we do not have work and we have sufficient economic resources, it is certainly a good time to start an entrepreneurial adventure.

On the contrary, if you have a fixed job, which gives us something professionally, and also, is what allows us to make ends meet, it may not be such a good idea to leave it to start a business that we do not know how it will go.

However, this depends on each person, and believe me that when you pursue a dream, if you really want to achieve, you will find the methods and resources necessary to do it.

What are my competitors?

Another important factor to keep in mind is to know who we are competing with in the market, and what possibilities we have against this.

We must know our weaknesses, threats, strengths and opportunities (SWOT) as a company, to know if it is a good idea to enter to compete according to which markets.

For example, it is not the same to compete with technology companies such as Apple as with textile companies such as Mango or Zara. This is a good way to determine if our product or service has a place in the market, and if we are able to do so.

Where do I begin?

Have you finally decided to start your business? Then it’s time to get going. But surely, we do not even know where to start.

Therefore, it is advisable to make a business plan, where there should be an explanation of the product and service, determine what the initial investment will be , what we need, a market study, how we launch the product or service, how we promote it, we need a team , we can do it alone, etc.

Talking with other entrepreneurs, having partners to help us, having mentors, participating in entrepreneurial contests, etc., can certainly be of great help to create our company.

What alternatives do I have if the business fails?

Having a Plan B never hurts, but a C and a D is still more advisable. In this way, in case the business fails, we have alternatives so we do not run out of anything.

If you already know that you want to start and only need to know how to accurately measure the viability of your business, with this resource we tell you how to do it.
