AMD confirms Ryzen Mobile SoCs with Qualcomm X16 modems

In this article we have finally seen the materialization of Microsoft’s bet for Windows 10 emulated on ARM, but the Redmond giant has not been the only one that has looked towards the always connected equipment. AMD has done the same with its Ryzen Mobile Socs and a very particular alliance with Qualcomm that we are going to analyze next.

The possibility of having a computer that allows us to be connected to the Internet without depending on a WiFi network or a cable connection is very attractive, especially for professionals who need a high degree of mobility and have to be permanently connected in order to be able to Get your work done and be productive.

With this in mind we see that Microsoft’s idea of shaping computers with Windows 10 and SoCs Snapdragon 835 makes a lot of sense but forces emulation to pull , something that in the end should end up affecting performance, although it also implies a significant advantage at the level of autonomy (it is spoken of between 20 and 24 hours of use per battery charge).

In the case of AMD, the company has also focused on Qualcomm but has preferred to directly implement their X16  LTE modems (1 Gbps) in their Ryzen Mobile SoCs , a solution that as you know, you read us every day, assemble a quad-core CPU and eight threads based on the Zenarchitecture and a Vega GPU .

On a personal level, the movement of the Sunnyvale firm seems very interesting to me. I know it’s not as flashy as Microsoft’s for all that is the union of ARM and Windows 10, but it opens the door to the arrival of high-performance equipment always connected and thanks to the low TDP of Ryzen Mobile ( 15 watts ) we could see models with a high autonomy.
