OPP Seize Thousands of Dollars in Drugs in Collingwood Drug Trafficking Bust

Following a successful investigation into drug trafficking, police have reported that they have seized cocaine and heroin valued at thousands of dollars in the Collingwood region. Some months ago, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a tip that there was fentanyl and cocaine trafficking going on nearby. The police discovered a shocking finding while conducting their investigation: one of the individuals they were looking for had previously been charged and freed on bond, but had not shown up for court.

On April 3, the Collingwood OPP stopped a car for a traffic violation and detained three of the passengers.

Police discovered drugs and a loaded 9mm pistol after searching the people and the car. In addition, a search warrant for a Markham location was issued for officers from the Caledon, Nottawasaga, and Huronia West detachments. There, they found a sizable quantity of cocaine, heroin, and cash, believed to be worth $60,000 in total.

A Markham man and a Collingwood woman have been charged in connection with the incident, though one individual was released without being prosecuted.
