The overnight rain has transitioned into snow and flurries in Toronto, resulting to a challenging commute on Friday morning.

The police informed that the drivers are advised to use caution and leave space for the motorists.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said that the emergency crews have been “very busy” because there are “too many calls to count” around the cities and highways.

Schmidt said, “Crashes, fender benders, people sliding into ditches and into walls and into everybody else on the roads here. We are trying our best to keep up.” He further added, “You need to slow down, drive safe, and give yourself the time to clean off your vehicle.”

Toronto’s temperature is at a freezing level of below -3 degree Celsius and is expected to drop to -11, feeling like -20 due to wind chills.

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health has also issued an extreme cold weather alert.
