Cross voting in Punjab for Presidential election

Cross voting took place in Punjab regarding the Presidential election. NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu was to get 5 votes in terms of support. But, she got 8 votes. This cross-voting has been done by the MLAs of the Congress or Aam Aadmi Party. There is a stir between both parties due to this. Now the investigation has started at the internal level as to who voted outside the party line. Both the Congress and the AAP backed Yashwant Sinha.
There are 117 MLAs in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. 92 are Aam Aadmi Party, 18 Congress, 3 Akali Dal, 2 BJP, one BSP and 1 Independent. In this sense, BJP-backed NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu had to get 6 votes because the BJP and the Akali-BSP alliance together make 6 MLAs. However, three MLAs, Manpreet Ayali of Akali Dal, Rajkumar Chabbewal of Congress and Ladi Sherowalia, did not vote. After this, the NDA-supported Murmu had to get only 5 votes. A total of 114 MLAs voted. Five became invalid. After this, Yashwant Sinha got 101 votes out of the remaining 109, and Draupadi Murmu got 8 votes.
If Draupadi Murmu receives 5 votes, Akali Dal, BJP, and BSP can be considered. Now there is restlessness between AAP and Congress about who gave the remaining 3 votes. In this, even if one vote is accepted by Azad Rana Inder Pratap, there are 2 more votes left. Although Rana’s father Rana Gurjit, is an MLA from Congress.
