North Korea records One death from COVID for First time in 2 Years

After two years of COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, North Korea has reported the first death in the nation from the virus. Hundreds of North Koreans are showing fever symptoms as per the reports of the state media on Friday. The circumstances are hinting at the largescale outbreak of the virus for the first time in the last two years of the worldwide pandemic.
Around 187,800 people are kept in isolation after a fever of unidentified origin is explosively spreading throughout the nation since late April.
Around 350,000 are showing fever signs fever, including 18,000 who newly reported such symptoms on Tuesday alone. Out of this, 162,200 of them have been treated so far. But, how many people have tested positive for COVID has not been reported.

The leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un visited the anti-virus command centre on Tuesday to review the situation. The state has ordered the “gravest state emergency” and also ordered a lockdown on Thursday.

The Korean leader asked to actively isolate and treat people with fever as a high priority.
The spread of the virus at this point in North Korea is highlighting the potential of a major crisis in the country. It is as North Korea already lacks medical resources, as it refused to take any international help for vaccinations and medicines. It has also kept its borders shut.

Analysts are warning that this outbreak could worsen the isolated country’s tough food situation this year.
