Celebrate Christmas With These Special Events on Maui This Year

Every year when the holiday season rolls around, we like to pause and give thanks for all the blessings in our lives. Here at Kahana Village, we never take for granted the fact that we get to live in this beautiful island and call it our home. And we hope we can inspire someone such as yourself to enjoy all that West Maui has to offer. Book an oceanfront Hawaii vacation today and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year island style!

Wherever you decide to call home, know that when Christmas comes around there is no shortage of great events to participate in, no matter where you’re planning on exploring on the island. Here’s a list of some of the top three events to check out this Christmas season in Hawaii.

22nd Annual Lighting of the Banyan Tree Holiday Festival

Coming into its 22nd year of existence, this West Maui tradition is one you should definitely check out if you’re going to be on the island this December. On December 7th, you can catch the true spirit of the holidays with your loved one as an ancient tree lights up on one of the island’s most happening streets. While it may not be a fir or pine tree, it’s even better. This tree was planted in the 1800s and still brings joy to the community every single day. Afterward, take a stroll down Front Street to enjoy the decorations, shopping, food, and drinks.

Christmas 5K Run and Santa’s Half Mile Keiki Dash

We know, the idea of running after Thanksgiving and before New Years may not be on the top of your list, but what if we told you this event, put on by the local Valley Isle Road Runner community, is a way to give back to the island’s less fortunate? Does that change your mind? We hope so.

Join the Maui community on December 15th, for the annual Christmas 5K Run and Santa’s Half Mile Keiki Dash!

  • Santa’s Half Mile Keiki Dash is a race for keiki (children) 8 years and under. This event will kick off at 7:30 am and there will be no bib numbers or run times.
  • Christmas 5K is more like a 5.5K where the extra .5k just means more fun! This race will start at 7:35 am and it will not be timed, though there will be a clock set up.

This holiday 5K run encourages participants to collect donations for the local Maui Food Bank. Registration closes on December 13th, so be sure to sign up, bring a canned good, and run with all your heart!

Movie Night at Whalers Village

Take a short drive from your beachfront home away from home to Whalers Village in Kaanapali for the night and bring a blanket and some snacks and catch an outdoor movie the night before Christmas. Elf is scheduled to air on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas, so you’ll have two chances to make a memory with your loved one while being surrounded by Christmas decorations under the light of the Hawaiian stars.

We hope we inspired some possibilities for you this holiday season and you consider attending one or all of these Christmas events. In the meantime, if you have any questions about your upcoming Maui vacation then please do not hesitate to give us a call. Happy Holidays!
