Top Reasons to Visit Maui for the Holidays

Thinking about celebrating this year’s Christmas differently? Why not go on a tropical Maui vacation instead? Spending your Holiday in paradise might just be the best gift that you can give your family as well as yourself. Here, you get to experience a variety of fun and relaxing activities that only this tropical paradise can offer. Our 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom beachfront vacation rentals offer a unique opportunity to enjoy all the comforts of home with the gently crashing waves in the background.

But if you are looking for some reasons to spend your holiday on Maui, we are giving you nine of them right here!

Great Christmas Weather

White Christmas may be magical, but if you want to spend a warm and cozy Christmas for a change, Maui is your best bet. During the winter months, the weather remains sunny, only slightly cooler, especially in the Upcountry region of the island. No snow or chilly winter air, only fresh and lovely tropical breeze blowing from the ocean. You might need a light jacket or sweatshirt to keep you warm and cozy during some nights, but the days will remain temperate.

Holiday Luaus and Cultural Events

If you love the festivities and sumptuous meals served in luaus, you are going to enjoy the holiday luaus being hosted in different parts of the island during the Christmas season. With lovely beachside, amazing cultural shows, and mouth-watering traditional dishes, Maui is home to some of the best luau parties in Hawaii.

During December 24th, 25th, and 31st, and even during January 1st of next year, different resorts such as Royal Lahaina, Hyatt Regency, Grand Wailea, and Wailea Marriott are hosting Christmas and New Year’s Eve luaus that you and your family are sure to enjoy.

Lighting Up of the Banyan Tree

Another magical Maui event that you wouldn’t want to miss is the Annual Lighting of the Banyan Tree. This event is scheduled this year on December 7, 2019, wherein more than 6,500 lights are turned on to kick off the Christmas celebration in West Maui. And as what has been done for 22 years now, the Banyan Tree lights will remain lit until January 1, 2020.

Restaurants Hosting Holiday Feasts

Aside from the festive luaus in some of the finest resorts on the island, you can also enjoy the delicious feasts served in some of the top restaurants in Maui. Be it brunch or dinner, you can skip the preparations and start enjoying a holiday feast in Nick’s Fishmarket, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Lava Rock Bar and Grill, Lahaina Grill, The Plantation House, Mala Ocean Tavern, Pacific’O, and many more. Just make sure to make your reservations early so that you can have the whole family feasting on special multi-course meals and buffets for the holidays without you having to break a sweat.

And with resort amenities like a fully equipped kitchen and barbecue grills, you can easily whip up a tasty holiday meal for your family to share while enjoying all that our oceanfront vacation rentals have to offer!

Holiday Markets and Parties

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without some shopping! Get all your Christmas gifts and find unique gift ideas from the holiday markets that are open in the Shops at Wailea, Whalers Village in Kaanapali, Lahaina Christmas Store, and Queen Ka’ahamanu Center. Some of these holiday stores even offer special discounts and fun holiday events that shoppers will surely enjoy.

Keiki Christmas Events

If Christmas is fun for you, it is sure to be more exciting for your kids. Give your kids a one-of-a-kind holiday experience by signing them up for the keiki Christmas events to be hosted around the island. You can bring them to the Maui Ocean Center, where Scuba Claus and his elves are ready to make your kids’ ocean-themed Christmas fun brighter! The Whalers Village also has a line up of activities that are sure to keep your kids entertained.

Get Onboard the Holiday Express

All aboard the Holiday Express as presented by the Sugar Cane Train in Maui. Located at the corner of Puukolii Road and Honoapiilani Highway, the Sugar Cane Train gets bedecked and bedazzled in time for the festivities, with Santa’s elves helping you get ready for a 4-mile round-trip train ride. Bring the whole family along as the Holiday Express is available starting November 29 to December 31. You can even book a full car so that you and your family can enjoy the full coach ride to yourselves!

Santa Claus Visits Maui

What is Christmas without Santa Claus’ visit? Make your kids’ dream of meeting Santa Claus a reality. On December 24th, Santa will be at Wailea Beach, in front of the Grand Wailea at around 9 am. At noon, Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be stopping over Polo Beach in front of the Fairmont Kea Lani, so that everyone can meet them. This event is free and open to the public.

Relaxing Atmosphere

Imagine spending a laidback Christmas vacation with your whole family in a lovely accommodation in front of the beach, where you get to enjoy the sunset every day. Now, who wouldn’t want that? If you want to relax and get out of the cold and snowy Christmas weather from your state, why not spend your holiday in one of the amazing Maui vacation house rentals available at Kahana Village.

With spacious and comfortable living spaces, each of Kahana Village’s beach homes is designed to provide a luxurious and relaxing stay to its guests. Bring your family over to Kahana Village this Christmas and make your Hawaii vacation unforgettable one that you and your loved ones will forever cherish.
