Holiday Wreath Making With Native Hawaiian Plants

‘Tis the season to spread holiday cheer and if you are trading decorated pines for swaying palms, you might not be expecting to get the full holiday experience. While you might not be opposed to trading icy snow for warm white-sand beaches, you might find yourself longing to celebrate the season with something a little more traditional. If this sounds like you, we here at Kahana Village invite you to craft a festive decoration to add to your oceanfront vacation rental.

Working to foster an appreciation and understanding of Hawaii’s plants along with their role in the Hawaiian culture, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens (MNBG) are offering residents and visitors a unique Maui activity.

Kicking off at 9 am on Saturday, December 1st, the MNBG will be hosting a Living Wreath Making Workshop sponsored by the Hawaii Tourism Authority. For just $50, or $25 for current garden members, you can learn how to make a holiday wreath using Native Hawaiian Plants. The class will be taught by the Executive Director of the gardens, Tamara Sherrill, and creates a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to know more about Maui’s tropical side. You might even work with plants that you have seen while exploring the island!

If this sounds like something you and your family might be interested in doing together, please call 808-249-2798 or email [email protected] for reservations.

And if you are looking to create your own piece of Hawaii but rather stay a little more close to your home away from home, our beachfront lei making class is the perfect opportunity to do so! As part of our resort amenities and a warm mahalo for choosing Kahana Village, you are welcome to join our free weekly session and walk away with a sweet flower lei as a Hawaii souvenir.
