Accidents like this one are heartbreaking and devastating, and many head-on collisions are preventable tragedies. Our thoughts go out to all involved during this surely very difficult time.

Head-on/Frontal Impact Collisions Are Deadly

Head-on Collisions – also known as frontal impact collisions, are the most deadly type of collision. This type of collision is often analyzed in introductory Physics crash,  used to explain the laws of momentum and energy. In real-life, head-on crashes are often deadly.  According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, in 2019, head-on collisions accounted for 57% of car accident occupant deaths. You are much more likely to die in a frontal impact collision than any other type of collision. The faster vehicles are traveling, the more catastrophic the injuries are likely to be, and the higher the likelihood of fatality.

Causes of Head-On Collisions in Florida

Head-on collisions are often attributed to distracted driving, with cell phone use being a top cause of accidents. When drivers take their hands or eyes off the wheel and lose control, the result can be deadly. Because both vehicles are traveling towards each other in a frontal impact collision, it may take just a fraction of a second for a collision to occur. Even the most cautious drivers may be unable to avoid an impact.
