One Nonprofit Fundraising Tip: Please And Thank You

Please and thank you are some of the magic words we are taught as children to help us as we navigate through life. And they also make sense with regard to Nonprofit Fundraising.

It costs nothing to say please and thank you. But forgetting those magic words can cost you everything.

Keeping things simple with please and thank you.

Saying please will help those you ask to know that you respect them and are truly asking for their assistance with whatever you need. It isn’t difficult to say, “Please pass the salt and pepper” at dinner or “Please help me with this project.” Using please can make a difference in the response you get.

Thank you is easy to say, but sometimes, we forget to thank those helping us the most. This can be family members, co-workers, or our supporters and friends. Saying thank you to those who help us doesn’t have to be a big dramatic gesture, but it does need to be sincere and heartfelt. When you thank someone for their time to help you, they feel acknowledged and appreciated and will be more willing to help you again.

Life and also nonprofit fundraising approaches to being polite.

The thank you can be as simple as saying the words, sending a personal card, or a thank you post on social media. We all want to be recognized for what we do, and it keeps us motivated to help again and again.

Think of your supporters, your Fundraising champions, your family, friends, and anyone who helps you get to your goal, whether it is setting up a huge event, a donation of any kind, or collecting shoes with your shoe drive fundraiser. You can’t do this alone, and remembering to thank those who help along the way will ensure they will help in the future.

Using the magic words.

Thanking your volunteers for all that they tirelessly do to help your organization keeps them motivated and interested in contributing to your cause. If they don’t know what you need or how to help, they may think you have accomplished your current goals, so they don’t need to contribute. Ask, “Please, we need your help,” when they come through for you, thank them for their time, energy, and commitment to your cause, community, and mission.

Magic words can help you do amazing things!
