Nonprofit Search: Creative Ways to Support Your Organization

For the first time, fewer than 50% of Americans give to nonprofits. It’s not our opinion that it’s because they don’t care about Social good. On the contrary! Americans care very much about their communities, but challenges do exist. For instance, if you do a Nonprofit search in your town, you’ll see that there’s duplication. And there’s also a lack of creativity in getting people engaged and involved that have staying power.

So, what could your organization do to level up your game if you’re a nonprofit leader or fundraiser? In other words, how can you attract new donors who’re in the process of a nonprofit search because they care? Well, for one, realize that people won’t stay if you’re organization is about the same old stuff. There are several ways your nonprofit can amp up its game and encourage new supporters to join you, and engage current donors to make them want to stay.

Volunteer vacay for social good.

Everyone loves a good vacay. But what about one that’s all about social good, and how can your nonprofit coordinate it? It doesn’t matter the type of organization you run and its mission. You could partner with an organization in a developing nation and get funding for a volunteer holiday overseas. All you have to do is create a campaign asking supporters to help fund your partnership and recruit them to go on a mission trip with you.

Social media nonprofit magic.

Don’t have time to get a global nonprofit and NGO partnership together? Well, how about inviting your supporters to become social media influencers for your nonprofit? That’s right. You can create a social activism group, a great way to get people who love social on board. Getting your supporters to become social media activists helps you to raise brand awareness from the best people to talk about your nonprofit—your supporters. Recruit a social media lead volunteer and others, develop a plan, and let them get to it!

Skill swapping initiative.

Your nonprofit always needs services. So, why not ask to make it a win/win for your nonprofit and supporters? All you have to do is to regularly let them know that you’re doing a skill swap initiative. In other words, invite your supporters to exchange services with you and others who participate, such as web development, graphic design, or even by providing running and exercise tips.

Gamify giving.

So many Americans LOVE gaming, so why not get your nonprofit involved in it? As we know, so much of what we experience digitally is gamified. To gamify giving, you want a tech platform where people win points and virtual rewards and unlock achievements for giving to your nonprofit. Sounds like fun! Take a look at Classy’s 9 Essential Tips to Gamify Fundraising at Your Nonprofit for more information.

Sustainability swaps.

Another great way to get your community involved—especially if people are open to supporting a good cause and are doing a nonprofit search—is to do sustainability swaps. This idea is super-easy. Create a couple of days in the calendar where people can exchange gently used items at your location, including books and even clothing. Think of it as a yard sale at your site. Moreover, you can use sustainability swap days to get people to give you their shoes for a shoe drive fundraiser.

The fact is that social good has always been a big part of the fabric of our country. That’s why nonprofits have been around for a long time and will hopefully be around for many more. But it’s essential to go with the times. As a result, it means you have to think creatively and stop doing the usual fundraisers to attract and retain donors. So, get your team together and reimagine what your nonprofit can do to get people to support your cause and mission!
