A Story of Medical Fundraising for the Entire Community

Do you want to raise money for your Medical nonprofit? Have you ever thought about a Shoe drive fundraising as an idea? Perhaps, you never took it seriously because you didn’t know where to start. Or, maybe you think your community is small, and there isn’t much capacity. Even if your community’s small, that doesn’t mean people aren’t kind and generous. They have their own little networks they can tap into for your medical fundraising.

Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society

As many people know by now, we’re celebrating 10 years! And in those years, we’ve had the chance to get to know many great partners, such as the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society. We love featuring partners, and these were great partners, especially our point person, Janet Mills. As we know, medical fundraising sometimes isn’t easy. Sure, people could do GoFundMe campaigns, but the reality is that health and medical costs are always so high.

In countless hospitals and medical organizations throughout the country, aid societies raise funds for medical needs. In fact, this aid society started in the 1970s, building the first hospital in the area for the community! So, perhaps your medical group is similar to the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society.

What made this shoe drive fundraiser special was that the entire community got involved. So, whether you have a large or small community, everyone could pitch in for your medical fundraiser—as they did for this aid society. Why? People always want to help. And most people have an extra pair of shoes they no longer need. In Latrobe’s case, they collect 269 bags from the community. They used Facebook and even connected with a running store in the area that collected for them for one month.

Your Neighbors Care About Others

A shoe drive fundraiser collects pairs of shoes in good condition that could get repurposed. In other words, someone else could use them. Many people don’t realize that in developing countries, millions use shoes initially worn by someone else. And when you share that idea (in addition to your medical fundraising), people want to support it.

Your neighbors care about others, and when they see you collecting shoes, they’ll want to donate the shoes hidden in closets and storage. A shoe drive fundraiser is an innovative medical fundraising event. No one has to contribute money. And no one has to sell any merchandise. All they do is give gently worn, used and new shoes they don’t need. Yes, it’s that simple, and what’s more, the shoes collected, the higher the amount of the fundraising check.

A Shoe Drive Is a Short-Term Fundraising Event

Shoe drive medical fundraising’s great because you can raise funds in a short period (usually about 60 days). This is especially useful to raise funds for a one-time event, like a patient concert or holiday party. Shoe drive fundraisers are also a great way to promote the medical brand and share your story. For instance, you could promote a hospital in the community.

Also, if you want to help someone get back on their feet after a serious illness or injury, you could hold a shoe drive fundraiser to help them cover expenses. And like, the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society did, you could get more people involved by asking. As they did, you could ask local gyms, schools, retail stores, etc., to support the cause.

People Always Want to Help Others

The best thing about a shoe drive fundraiser is that it’s always creative. No one is asking you to collect anything but shoes in good condition. As we know, people are always happy to help with a shoe drive fundraiser because they want to help others. Giving shoes is such a simple solution for most people to support a good medical fundraising cause. Moreover, a shoe drive fundraiser is a great way to get neighbors involved in a compelling event. Remember, people always want to help others in their community—and beyond.
