Love is in the Clouds

Technology has transformed our lives in ways we couldn’t have imagined 30, 20, 10, even 5 years ago. Amongst the plethora of things that have been touched by technology’s magic wand is what many, if not all, consider to be the most important of all: finding true love. Online dating sites harness technology’s power in order to fulfill the promise of finding one’s significant other in a world of 7 billion people.

eHarmony is one of such online dating sites. It’s been around since 2000, and today drives 4% of all marriages in the US, according to eHarmony’s Tracy Kobzeff (Director, Product Marketing & Monetization). More than 17 million registered users rely on the site to help them build happy and lasting relationships. eHarmony uses its patented Compatibility Matching System, developed from 35 years of clinical and empirical research, to match highly compatible singles online. It is the #1 trusted relationship service on the internet.

Keeping such a lofty status requires that eHarmony constantly engages its users with promotions, advice, tips and follow-ups to ensure their search for the ideal mate is successful. “We use Oracle Marketing Cloud to send email marketing to all of our registered eHarmony members,” Tracy Kobzeff explains. “We were able to create some very sophisticated segmentation and put that into the Oracle Marketing Cloud to send very targeted promotional campaigns to our most engaged users,” she adds.

It’s thanks to cloud technology that eHarmony is able to change the lives of so many single men and women. And it’s thanks to Oracle Marketing Cloud that the online dating site constantly improves singles’ odds of finding true love. “We’re working with Oracle Marketing Cloud on a pilot in which we would reach users via display ads. This way we’ll have a new channel in which we can engage with them and let them know about our promotions,” Tracy comments.

So this Valentine’s Day, whether you’re single or in a relationship, remember technology is on your side. Like Tracy would say, “It’s amazing how today technology can really bring people together.” And if you want to know more about how the eHarmony + Oracle Marketing Cloud pairing works, you can check Tracy Kobzeff’s full interview below.
