The Deep Desire to “Start Again”

How many of us are wrestling with a Deep Desire to “start again”?  At times the idea can be exhilarating, and at other times, exhausting. As for myself, I seem to oscillate between both poles.

I’ve chosen to have a life with lots of change in it, and for the most part, it has served me well. But this time, as I feel the touch of change at my back, something is different. Perhaps it is the Pandemic or the “Dawning of the Age of Aquarius” or the gentle breeze that crossed my cheek the other day. Who knows?

A neon light flashing …

What I do know is that the phrase “Start Again” is flashing inside of me like a bright neon sign … and I’m not exactly sure where this “change” is nudging me to go. So, like everyone else in this transition boat, I need to navigate my way through these unknown waters. The trick is to remain optimistic and resist the thought that I’ll be in an oarless dinghy on the ocean swirling around and making myself dizzy – ha!

Finding your center …

So what helps me center myself? Bird sounds, Gaelic songs, and Cherry Blossoms (yes, the chocolate ones). Other than that, visualization (daily meditation-like practice) helps strengthen my core, offer balance and stamina, and forge my resolve. And then there is the big “P”; PATIENCE or I should say “impatience” because when you are swinging from a trapeze, all you want to get to is the other side as quickly as possible (gasp!).

So there you have it, the silk purse has been turned inside out and outside in; the neon sign is flashing, and I have a good stock of chocolate Cherry Blossoms “at the ready”.

Let the journey begin!
