Symphony 2018, Annual Cultural Festival of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering

Symphony is the Annual Cultural Festival of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, and will be held from 7th to 9th February, 2018. Since its inception in 1987 with the name of Jamboree, Symphony has established itself amongst the top cultural festivals in India. The theme for Symphony 2018 is Kaleidoscope of Ages, wherein everyone will explore various eras, and be enthralled by the beautiful melange of past, present, and future.

Symphony has always been a breeding ground for budding artists, and is a platform for young talents to exhibit their skills, to take their first step towards success. Symphony hosts a wide spectrum of competitions such as Udghosh (Street Play), Verve (Group Dance), Symphony Idol (Solo Singing), Battle of the Bands, and Decibels (DJ Wars), that bring out the best in everyone. Being an established festival, Symphony garners participation from over 64 colleges, and witnesses a footfall of around 10,000, thus providing the perfect platform to showcase one’s skills.

Symphony has been graced by artists of the stature of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Louis Banks, Hariharan, Indus Creed, Parikrama, KK, Bombay Vikings, Taufiq Qureshi, Dagar, Suraj Jagan, Kenneth Sebastian, Aditi Singh Sharma, The Local Train, and Ustad Zakir Hussain. These celebrities have ensured that Symphony remains etched in the hearts of the audience for a long time, and their scintillating performances have made sure that more people attend the festival in the succeeding years.

Symphony has always championed the idea of giving back to society, and hence, under the banner of Parvaah, the social initiative of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Symphony has

taken up various social causes such as Women’s Safety, LGBT Rights, etc. This year, Parvaah has undertaken the cause of Health and Sanitation, and has joined hands with Mr. Afroz Shah to beautify the Versova Beach. The Parvaah pledge was undertaken by notable dignitaries such as Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Mr. Aditya Thackeray, and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
