Saarang is the Annual Cultural Festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, accredited with a heritage stretching from the late 70’s. It is the largest student-run festival of its kind in the country, witnessing a footfall of over 60,000 in the last few editions. It has also received an ISO 9001:2008 certificate. The five-day festival is scheduled from 4th to 8th January 2017. Saarang has a reputation of hosting some of the best artists in the past and this year we stand up to our expectation and have a great line up ready for our audience. Saarang also has numerous events happening over 5 days which fall under Dance, Music, Arts, Drama, Oratory, Fashion along with lectures by prominent personalities.
Classical Nite
Saarang 2017 presents to you the magical voice of Padma Bhushan Smt. Sudha Ragunathan and the mesmerising choreography of south Indian actor Vineeth as the headlining acts of Classical Night.
Sudha Ragunathan is a Carnatic vocalist from Tamil Nadu having received the Padma Bhushan and Sangita Kalanidhi honours among many others. She has recently performed at the United Nations General Assembly as part of International Non-Violence Day celebrations. She will be performing her Carnatic-influenced fusion act, Morning Raaga.
Actor Vineeth is a south Indian actor and classical dancer renowned for his work in Tamil and Malayalam movies. His major movies include Chandramukhi, Kadhal Desam, Gentleman and Bhool Bulaiyaa. He has performed at the prestigious Soorya Festival in Kerala and was awarded the title Kalaimamani by the Tamil Nadu government.
Choreo
8 minutes, 8000 strong audience and the stage is all yours. The battle begins for the most coveted place in the biggest group dance competition in South India.

Popular Nite
Saarang presents the grandest night of the year, Popular Night 2017.
Having sung Main hoon don, Where’s the party tonight, It’s the time to disco, Koi kahe kehta rahe, Dus bahane and Deewangi deewangi. Bollywood’s favourite voice will be entrancing Chennai at Saarang 2017. Bring out your dance shoes and your best moves to party through the night of 8th January as Shaan rocks the stage at the OAT.

EDM Nite
Saarang Proshows are back with the release of the much awaited EDM Night. Headlining this year’s show is the Italian duo MARNIK! Having produced tracks with some of the biggest DJs such as Steve Aoki and KSHMR they have featured in the largest EDM festivals in the world including Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival and Sunburn Goa.
