Colour & blooms galore for Renaissance Fair

A splendour of colourful and gorgeous blooms along with sunshine galore provided the perfect backdrop for the Renaissance Spring Fair on Sunday, 18 October.

The support from the local community for this annual event has ensured its continued popularity with hundreds of people of all ages enjoying a wonderful family day out.  Interaction, fun and laughter were the focus of the Fair with street entertainers, train rides, face painting, sherbet making and an array of food options.  Visitors made speciality purchases from the wide selection of stalls and many seemed delighted to have made an early start on their Christmas shopping.

Loads of hard work by the dedicated team of Renaissance gardeners and residents with green fingers ensured the gardens were “at their best”.  The English style country gardens running along the streetscapes provide a picturesque first impression to the independent living units in each avenue.  Not only do the flowering plants, shrubs and many native species attract bird life to the Village, they also complement the bushland environment and the natural waterway which meanders through the site.

There was lots of interest on the day in the display villas and the current stage which is just over a month away from finishing.  This reflects the general increasing demand for both new and established units as the village nears completion.  The last of some speciality villa designs are at a premium.  The feedback from visitors who were seeing the display villas for the first time was that they matched those in any prestige estate with the modern open and airy design, 9 foot ceilings, lots of storage and spacious outdoor courtyards.  Also other features commented upon were the high quality of finishes and fixtures.

During the Fair, visitors were happy mingling and many took the opportunity of talking one on one with residents about life in the village, the diverse facilities and activities available as well as strolling through the Leisure Centre and the surrounding grounds.

“The hallmark of successful ageing is getting what you want out of life and doing the things you love to do no matter what your age.”  That was clearly evident when both recent and long standing residents were enthusiastically heard outlining details of their busy social lives and how their choices had expanded since moving to Renaissance.  Life was even better with the new friendships they had made and when some of the regular chores involved with maintaining the family home and yard had been freed up, they could pursue their personal interests from the assortment of activities on offer at the village and in the Redlands generally.  Some residents said they particularly loved to travel and felt more secure living in the village community environment and knowing with friends and neighbours close by, they could simply lock their villa door and head off overseas or take a cruise or enjoy holidays away in their caravan for weeks at a time.  This seems like a lifestyle that many would envy.

Planning has begun for the 2016 Spring Fair which will provide the traditional Fair favourites as well as some surprises to ensure this annual highlight on the Renaissance calendar keeps evolving.  To register your interest for the Fair, contact the office on 3821 1611.
