Diner En Rouge charity event

Renaissance Retirement Living proudly sponsored Mayor Karen Williams annual Diner En Rouge Charity event held in November. Hosted by Spencer Howson, over 160 Redlanders raised $15,000+ which goes towards application for housing for Redlanders affected by domestic and family violence.

Each year the location of the event in shrouded in secrecy and throughout the pre-dinner drinks and canapes rumours were rife as to where this year’s location would be. Dressed in the theme of red and white, we entered the doors of RPAC’s concert hall to find the dinner tables set up on the stage facing the Audience, where the band and guest speakers were located – entertaining us from the usual audience seating area. What a treat it was to be sitting on the stage looking out to the seats of the audience – a feeling reserved only for performers.

The incredible Jonty Bush was guest speaker for the night – she’s the 2009 Young Australian of the Year and tragically lost her 19 year old sister and father to domestic violence. Special Messages were also heard from Dame Quentin Bryce and various Ministers, reinforcing the importance of supporting such a worthy cause. The night wrapped up with musical entertainment by Hullaballoo.
