Long Kee (龙记) Penang Curry Mee @ Fresh Food Court

I am back to Bukit Mertajam again and I just had my dinner at Fresh Food Court. It is also the place where you can get some fine Char Koay Teow with big prawns.
Since it's almost the end of Chinese New Year, things are back to normal and all the stalls are open now. This time, we had Long Kee's curry mee.

Long Kee serves one of the very few Penang white curry mee in BM, whereas the rest sells the non-white version. A small serving costs RM4.50 and you have the option to add on additional toppings.
The selection of toppings include octopus, mock abalone slices, prawn, cockle, fish/meat ball and cuttlefish. We added prawns and cockles so this bowl of noodle cost RM7.50.

As normal as it looks, eating this reminds me of what authentic Penang curry mee should be. And that's an amalgamation of quality seafood ingredients in a mildly sweet soup brought together by a slow roasted chili paste infused with a smokey rempah flavor – one that you can actually taste.
This is a wake up call I could really use, as I think I haven't been picky enough when recommending Penang food in KL in the past. Just for the record, both Penang Corner (despite being my favorite in KL) and Chew Jetty Penang Chiak‘s curry mee have nothing on this.
