Kupastuntas.co, Bandar Lampung - There are three names circulating that will fight for the seat of chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board (PWNU) Lampung for the 2023-2028 period in the 11th NU Regional Conference (Konferwil) in Lampung Province at Ma'arif University Campus Lampung (Umala) at the Metro on the upcoming 29-30 July 2023.

Based on the information gathered, the three names who will run as candidates for chairman of the Lampung PWNU are the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Lampung Puji Raharjo, the Chancellor of IAIN An Nur Lampung Andi Warisno and the Chairperson of the North Lampung PCNU Sonhaji Aziz.

Secretary of Pwnu Lampung for the 2011-2015 period, Munzir hopes that there will be a change in the management of PWNU Lampung with a better leadership relay.

"Hopefully the chairman of PWNU Lampung in the future is a cadre who is experienced and understands the organization. The chairman of the Lampung PNWU who was elected later must be someone who has experience in this organization. Because he will later become a conductor in a carriage filled with tens of thousands of members," said Munzir, Tuesday (25/7).

Munzir wants Puji Raharjo to be able to continue his leadership at PWNU Lampung. "He (Puji) is the Treasurer of PWNU, and understands very well about this organization. Puji is also an experienced cadre to lead NU Lampung in the future," he said.

Another Lampung NU senior figure, Azuwansyah also hopes that the PWNU Lampung management in the future can be better and more useful for the community. It can also maintain inter-religious harmony.

"Hopefully, the future Chairman of PWNU Lampung will be someone who has the vision to maintain inter-religious harmony and has experience in this organization," said Azuwansyah.

According to him, PWNU Lampung in the future needs figures who are visionary and have a background or culture of students. Meanwhile, Puji Raharjo revealed that he intends to run for chairman of PWNU Lampung because of the encouragement and support of voters from 15 Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Manager (PCNU) and 226 Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Deputy Council (MWC).

"It is with that encouragement and support that I will nominate myself," said Puji. According to Puji, all candidates have the potential and opportunity to be elected.

"We just follow the election mechanism or system. I am running because I want to play an active role and promote NU as one of the largest and most influential organizations in Indonesia," he concluded.

Previously, the Chairman of the 11th NU Lampung Regional Conference Committee (Konferwil), Alamsyah said there were 964 officially invited participants from elements of the NU Branch Board (PC) and NU Branch Regional Councils (MWC) throughout Lampung Province who would attend the Konferwil.

"If there were 964 formally invited participants in the conference, but only 241 of the votes came from PCNU and MWCNU representatives," said Alamsyah.

He explained, the owner of the voting rights in the conferwil will be represented by one person from each PCNU and MWCNU, with 14 votes from the branch officials and 227 votes from the branch assembly at the sub-district level.

"As for the names of candidates as candidates for chairman of PWNU Lampung, some have already appeared. It's still possible that in the next 2-3 days there will be another new name that appears, right, that could be," he said.

He explained that the preparations for the Lampung NU Conference had reached 90 percent, starting from infrastructure, lodging for invited guests, to parking lots. "The invited guests will later stay at the nearest Islamic boarding school around the Metro City Umala Campus," he added.

He estimates that the total number of participants attending the opening of the NU Lampung Conference will reach 1,200 invited guests. The committee has prepared internal and police security for the smooth running of the Lampung NU Conference.

"We have coordinated with the Lampung Regional Police and the Metro City Police to monitor and supervise the event. We also have internal security such as Banser, GP Ansor, Pagar Nusa," he concluded. (*)
