The Road Home: The Murphys

Originating from South Africa, the Murphys relocated to Singapore in 2008, establishing the Redemption Hill Church. It wasn’t until 2020 that the family of five were officially recognised and embraced as Singaporean citizens, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Adjusting to their new life in Singapore, they immersed themselves in a diverse and loving community, navigating the various aspects of their adopted home enthusiastically. Surrounded by a tapestry of cultures and experiences, they embraced the opportunity to appreciate Singapore’s multicultural environment, fostering deep gratitude for the diverse society they now call home.

Foreword

In this touching anthology series, we see the lives and journeys of individuals from foreign lands who have made their way to Singapore. Despite the challenges that arise from living in a place where their appearance and language differ, they wholeheartedly embrace the local culture. They find a true sense of belonging through the deep connections they form with newfound friends in Singapore. This collection of stories, both heartwarming and thought-provoking, serves as a beautiful reminder that home is not defined by where we are but rather by the connections we cultivate with the people around us.
