July 26, 2022 – The 2022 UEFA European Women’s Football Championship, referred to as UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, is the international soccer championship organised by UEFA for the women’s national teams of Europe. The tournament is hosted by England and was originally scheduled to take place from 7 July to 1 August, 2021. However, following the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent postponements of the 2020 Summer Olympics and EUFA Euro 2020 to summer 2021, the tournament was rescheduled for 6 to 31 July, 2022.

England are the hosting team, the Netherlands are the defending champions, and Northern Ireland is participating in a EUFA Women’s Euro competition for the first time. The Netherlands, who were the defending champions, lost in the quarter-finals to France.

The video assistant referee (VAR), as well as goal-line technology, will be used in the final tournament.

The final will take place at Wembley Stadium in London. The winners will compete in the first edition of the EUFA-CONMEBOL Women’s Finalissima against the winners of the 2022 Copa America Femenina.

Germany were champions in 1989, 1991, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013.

According to a website, the game between Germany and France will be held at 12 noon PST.

Years ago, back in 2014, the Women Team came to Vancouver, practiced at UBC and then played against the Canadian Team at the BC Place Stadium.

Canada was gearing up to host FIFA Women’s World Cup Soccer in 2015 and leading up to the tournament the Canada Women’s National Team wanted to engage in several international matches on home soil. One of the games was Canada vs Germany in Vancouver on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at BC Place. The Germans in Vancouver, including members of the German Canadian Business Association, the Surrey German School and Westside German School, the German Language Meetup Group, the friends of the German Consul General and other German soccer fans gathered at the stadium to support their favourite team.

Westcoast German News was also there, able to meet the coaches and managers of both the teams.

Each national team have to submit a squad of 23 players, three of whom must be goalkeepers. If a player is injured or ill severely enough to prevent her participation in the tournament before her team’s first match, she can be replaced by another player.

Who will be in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final?

Hosts England will be there after sweeping aside Sweden in Tuesday’s semi-final at Bramall Lane. The other involving Germany and France is the following evening at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.
