Hurricane Matthew Information | Theme Park Closures

Hurricane Matthew is headed towards the east coast of Florida. I am sharing with you the Hurricane Matthew Information I have regarding closings.

Hurricane Matthew remains a powerful Category 4 storm with 140 mph winds as it makes its way toward the east coast of Florida.

LEGOLAND- Florida

LEGOLAND Florida Resort will operate as scheduled Thursday, Oct. 6, but LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park may close early due to the approach of Hurricane Matthew. For the safety of all guests and employees, LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park will remain closed Friday, Oct. 7, but LEGOLAND Hotel will be open to admit arriving guests. We expect to operate as scheduled Saturday, Oct. 8, but will continue to monitor the storm’s projected path and will make adjustments as necessary.

In the event that a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando, Fla., area or a guest’s place of residence within seven days of his or her scheduled arrival date, guests may call in advance to reschedule or cancel a LEGOLAND Hotel booking without any cancellation or change fees. In this case, guests also may reschedule any LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park or LEGOLAND Florida Water Park tickets booked through LEGOLAND directly, with no additional fees. If tickets were purchased through a third party, LEGOLAND cannot reschedule or cancel them.

Walt Disney World

Disney parks will be closed at 5pm on Thursday October 6th and will remain closed on Friday, October 7th.

Walt Disney World is offering to move guests in its Fort Wilderness campground, Polynesian Village  bungalows, and Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas to other lodging as Hurricane Matthew approaches Florida.  “The safety of our Guests and Cast Members is very important to us,” Disney said in an emailed statement.

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon closed Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7.

Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground closed through Sunday.
Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ cancelled through Sunday.
Spirit of Aloha Dinner show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort cancelled on Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7.
Characters in Flight at Disney Springs closed through to Sunday.

Expect more operational changes as the severity of the storm becomes clearer over the next 24 hours.

Disney Vacation Refund Policy if a Hurricane Warning is in Effect:

If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may call in advance to reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Magic Your Way vacation package and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. If you have products and services provided by third-party suppliers included in your vacation—such as airlines, hotels, car rental agencies or vacation insurance companies—you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments, as well as cancellation or change fees assessed by those suppliers. The policy does not apply to certain special events or dining experiences.

My Thoughts & Prayers

My thoughts and prayers are with those that are being affected by Hurricane Matthew. My husband is possibly heading to the Florida East Coast to help as an EMT, so I would appreciate prayers and pixie dust for him as well.

As soon I know more Hurricane Matthew Information, I will add it to this page.
