Discovering the Gold Coast of Portage Bay Lifestyle

There are only around 520 Seattle floating homes on the Lake. They are dispersed around Lake Union with the largest concentration being in Eastlake. The next largest floating community is located in the eastern arm of Lake Union. We call it Portage Bay and it is a very little known secret of us houseboaters. Those who live in Portage Bay (myself included) choose to stay there for a number of reasons.

My section of Portage Bay is in the south end of the bay with incredible sunrises and peeks at the beautiful sunsets, too. We are surrounded by the largest yacht clubs and some of the most beautiful land homes I have ever seen in Roanoke Park. We have a 3.2 mile walking loop using two bridges and we have Roanoke Park and Montlake Park. We have Little Lago, a neighborhood treasure. We also have Johnny Moe’s pizza. If all this wasn’t enough, then consider the fact that you can walk a quarter of a mile over the hill to enjoy all that Eastlake has to offer in the way of shopping, restaurants, and bars.

Portage Bay is simply divine to live in and so while I consider it an absolute luxury just to live in the Portage Bay floating home community, I also must highlight the homes in which I find to be true luxury all over the lake. Every touch and every corner has been well thought out for the ultimate in luxury living on the absolute Gold Coast section of Portage Bay. When I say Gold Coast, I am referring to the sunniest portion of Portage Bay that is drenched in southern light much of the day. Many people think Portage Bay is not very sunny, but that isn’t the case here.
