Inexpensive Fall Activities the Whole Family can Enjoy

Fall is finally here, and with kids back in school and the weather starting to cool off, families may be in search of some fun activities for a weekend outdoors. Spending time outdoors great for your mental and physical well-being, and it can also be good for your budget as well.  Here are some Inexpensive Fall Activities for you and your family to enjoy.

Hold a Nature Scavenger Hunt. Nothing gets people going like a little competition. So create your own Nature Scavenger Hunt to get your family and friends moving around the outdoors. To make it easy, you can download one for free from Parents.com.

Rake Leaves. This simple activity may seem like work in the beginning, but once all the leaves are raked into a pile – give into your inner child and jump in! It’s entertaining (unless you are slightly OCD), and costs nothing. If you have little ones, have them select some leaves to make crafts. You can use the leaves to glue, paint, or use as a stencil.

Take a Hike. Head to the mountains (or hills) with your family so that everyone can take in the beautiful sights of the changing seasons. Pack a lunch and some snacks and you have a cheap way to spend the day, plus a fun way to get some exercise too.

Go Camping.  With the cooler weather approaching, it’s the perfect time for camping. Camping in most U.S. parks can cost as little as $20 a night, and it typically includes access to running water, toilets, and outdoor cooking facilities.

Pick Your Own Berries. Visit a local berry farm for a yummy and inexpensive way to spend time. Most berry farms only charge you for the fruit actually picked, so the cost can be determined by you. As a creative bonus, if you have younger children, they can use any leftover berries as water colors.
